Language Ability

You should take a language test in either French or English, aiming for the Canadian Language Benchmark’s base score. Speaking and listening have a base CLB of 5, whereas writing and listening have a base CLB of 4. You receive more points the more scores you receive.

Proof of Settlement Funds

You must demonstrate that you have sufficient assets to establish a permanent residence in Canada with your family, that you are legally able to work in Canada, or that you have a genuine job offer from a Canadian employer in order to be eligible for express entry through the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

There should be no restrictions or obligations preventing withdrawals from this fund. Additionally, when submitting your application and when receiving your PR permit, you should make sure that they are substantial.

Depending on how many family members will be following you to Canada, different amounts of money may be needed. The table below demonstrates how the amount of money needed varies with the size of the family.

Admissibility

Acceptance signifies that you have the legal right to reside in Canada. Specific illnesses or the provision of a clean criminal background may limit your qualification. So, before submitting an application for the FST program, make sure you are qualified.

Skilled Trades Program Eligibility

All certified skilled workers who satisfy the fundamental FST eligibility requirements are eligible for this program. Additionally, you can try to fulfill other necessary requirements to increase your chances of receiving an application invitation.

Step by step guide on how to process FST

This is exactly what you will do from the very beginning as far as getting your permanent residence visa, to apply for Canada PR under the Federal Skilled Trades program.

Step 1: Obtain two years’ experience in a relevant skilled occupation

The essential thing you should do before thinking about applying for permanent residence is to amass roughly two years of consistent work experience in a position listed by NOC as a skilled category B job. If you have a part-time employment, you must put in the equivalent amount of time as a two-year full-time job in order to qualify.

Step 2: Check to know if you meet other eligibility criteria

After getting your two years compulsory skilled work experience, you then check to know if you meet other requirements. The requirements are listed above for you.

You should have a language test in one or the other English or French in which you should arrive at the Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 for speaking and listening and CLB 4 for writing and reading.

3: Create your online express entry profile

When you have verified your eligibility and are found to be eligible, the next step is to create an online profile for express entrance. You will be prompted to fill out personal information for this profile, such as your name and employment history, on the IRCC website. There are several finer points that require supporting documentation, such as proof of funding and the outcome of a language test.

4: Improve your profile

If you feel your score is poor, there are many methods you may improve your online presence. If your previous score fell below the minimum pass mark, you can improve it by retaking the language test and getting a higher score.

Additionally, you can improve your profile by gaining more professional experience. This will help you achieve a high ranking in the Comprehensive Ranking System and increase your chance of receiving an invitation to apply (ITA) when the express entry pool is selected.

Giving your educational background—assuming you studied in Canada—is another way to enhance your profile. You can do this by providing a diploma, degree, or certificate proving that you have successfully attended a Canadian high school or postsecondary institution. Additionally, if you attended school outside of Canada, you must submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) proving that your credentials are equivalent to a diploma, certificate, or degree from a high school or post-secondary institution in Canada. This will result in an additional score of between 100 and 150 points.

Step 5: You will receive invitation to apply

The time at which the IRCC invites you to apply for a Canada PR permit is the most joyous part of the entire cycle. You have 60 days from the day you are welcomed to finish your online application. Because the time frame for the entire process is short, you should keep each of your paperwork ready. It should just take six months to complete everything.

Step 6: Submission your online application

You only have 60 days from the day you accept your invitation to apply to submit an electronic application with all required supporting documentation. You will be asked to provide personal information that you will supply on the online application. You will also need a few supporting documents, such as a clinical certificate, a police clearance certificate, and many other pertinent ones.

While the police release certificate must come from each country where you have lived since turning 18 years old, the clinical certificate must be from an IRCC board certified physician.

Step 7: Receive Confirmation of Permanent Residence status

A panel will review your online application after you’ve submitted it, at which point it will confirm that you have a PR permit by sending you a confirmation of your permanent residence status. At that point, a confirmation of permanent residence (COPR) document bearing the date the permanent residence was granted and being signed by a Canadian officer at a point of entry or at an IRCC office will be made available to you. Step 8: Apply for a PR card

You apply for a PR card right away after receiving your confirmation of permanent residence document. You can use this card as identification whenever you leave Canada to show that you are still a Canadian citizen.
